How Does it Work?


Distilled water is added to the top of the machine, and cool tap water is added to the container seen on the right side of the machine. A nasal cannula is connected to the top of the container on the right side of the machine and worn by the person receiving therapy. Therapy time can be set to count up or count down for a desired duration. Simply press start and the Vital Reaction Inhaler starts producing hydrogen gas by electrolyzing the distilled water in the top chamber. Electrolysis is the process of applying electricity to water splitting the water molecule into its constituent parts: hydrogen and oxygen. The machine then mixes that hydrogen with air ensuring the ratio remains below a level that could be flammable. The percentage of molecular hydrogen gas is displayed on the front of the machine. The machine then pumps this gas for inhalation through the container on the outside of the machine ensuring the gas is at a nice comfortable temperature. The molecular hydrogen gas and air mixture is then delivered by cannula to the nose for inhalation at a flow rate of 2 liters per minute.



About Hydrogen Gas


Hydrogen gas is a molecule composed of two hydrogen atoms. Hydrogen is the first element on the periodic table of elements. It is the smallest atom, and hydrogen gas is the smallest molecule. Hydrogen is the most prevalent atom in the universe, a principal component of water, and essential to life as we know it. It is tasteless and odorless.


Hydrogen gas has a long history of being considered "biologically inert". A very small amount is present in all of the air we breathe. The bacteria in our intestines produce hydrogen gas as a byproduct of the fermentation of dietary fiber. It has long been known not be harmful and is considered Generally Recognized As Safe (G.R.A.S.) by the United States Food and Drug Administration. Starting in 2007, research started to uncover that hydrogen, while safe, is not in fact "biologically inert". As of January 2017, more than 500 studies using human and animal models have been produced supporting benefits to health.


It has the potential to behave like a selective anti-oxidant. It is selective in that it will only react with the strongest free radicals. This pretty much limits its ability to react only with the hydroxyl radical. The hydroxyl radical is common in the human body, causes harm in the form of oxidative stress, and has no beneficial function. The reaction between hydrogen gas and the hydroxyl radical results in water.


Multiple studies show hydrogen gas supports homeostasis in the body by down regulating pro-inflammatory cytokines. Runaway inflammation has been implicated in many chronic illnesses. Hydrogen may prove to play an important role in restoring balance to the body relative to inflammation.


Red blood cells serve the purpose of bringing oxygen from the lungs and carrying it throughout the body in significant quantity. There is no mechanism in the lungs for bringing hydrogen gas into the body. However, hydrogen gas is soluble in blood in small quantities and enters the body this way. The very small size of the hydrogen molecule enables it to move throughout the body, including into the nucleus of cells. All research to date shows that small quantities of hydrogen are enough. Inhaling hydrogen gas provides more hydrogen to the body than any other method currently, and provides it to arterial blood for the greatest circulation in the body.
